Sarah: Back from Haiti and …

Boy are we glad to hear she is! 🙂 Here’s a note she sent the other day:

Dear everyone,

Last night I got back from my two week trip to see Haiti, it’s people and culture, and my boyfriend Daniel. It was an amazing trip, to say the least. I learned so much, and I’m still processing a lot of it. Haiti is such a pretty country, and it’s people are so beautiful and hopeful, and very friendly for the most part. I was definitely challenged in some ways (I met some very nice, interesting people whose philosophy of life I don’t agree with; and it was very hot, especially at night), but also very encouraged to be welcomed with open arms by all the people I met. I have heard some people describe Haitians as lazy, and others describe the country as spiritually dark or oppressive. I found Haitians to be ridiculously hardworking (who of us has to carry water uphill for two miles on our heads every single day?), and churches (almost literally) on every other corner. To summarize, I learned a lot, I now understand my dear boyfriend a lot better, and I loved it and want to go back.

If any of you are interested, I will be posting a much more detailed account of my trip on my blog, in segments. Hopefully I will get it all posted by the end of next week, but I’m not promising anything. Also, pictures will definitely be involved. I will probably send out an e-mail when I post something, just to let you know if you care. Please let me know if you want me to take you off this e-mail list, I don’t want to clog up anyone’s inbox. Thank you all for all your support, and feel free to ask me questions about my trip.

Love,

Sarah 🙂

No promised Haiti post on her blog as of Sat. night, but we’ll all be waiting eagerly… especially for the pictures!
